Youtube artist Alex Goot

So I’m on this singer/songwriter kick right now. Who am I kidding? I’m always on a singer/songwriter kick, but recently I’ve been obsessed with one in particular…Alex Goot.

Following in the footsteps of other Youtube notables, Goot has a plethora of videos available on his Youtube channel. Hailing from Poughkeepsie, NY, he slips into the singer/songwriter, acoustic rock genre, doing mostly cover songs for now. I actually found him while looking for covers of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory.” Among the other artists covered on his channel are Bruno Mars, The Beatles, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. He really has a knack for branching across all types of music, many times including other fellow upstarts in his recordings.

If he holds you’re interest, there’s even better news. This fall he will be going on tour across the U.S., hitting up most major cities along with fellow Youtubers Luke Conard and Tiffany Alvord (both of which I also subscribe and listen to). I’m hoping to try to make it to the Chicago stop. Fingers crossed. Even better, it’s only ten bucks. You really can’t go wrong with that.

So, if you haven’t seen the final Harry Potter installment yet, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to the midnight showing (believe me, I would have been one of the first people in line if I didn’t have to work), but I finally got the opportunity to see it today. In a word, amazing.

Ok, so you’re probably thinking, “Wow, this guy is one of those lame Harry Potter nerds.” But even if you aren’t this biggest fan, it’s just a great end to a great series. It has the right amount of magic, story, effects and acting in all the right proportions. Simply put, I loved it and recommend you go take a peek for yourself if you have any interest whatsoever.

So enough gushing on my part. What are you’re opinions? Do you think this will be the end of the Harry Potter world in movies? Part of me really wants this to be the end so it can finish on a high note, but another piece of me would love to be immersed in the world in some new and fascinating way. What do you think?
